CILJ: Autori u radu daju prikaz slučaja traumatskog iskustva-kidnapovanja dvojice policajaca u toku izvršavanja radnog zadatka.

Traumatic event represents a psychologically distressing event when one experiences a direct or potential threat to life or injury, harm to one's physical integrity in other way, or when an individual witnesses a violent death or injury or harm to a physical integrity of others. Traumatic events may be experienced under the war or civil circumstances. Being a mental injury, psychological trauma damages mental, physical or social functioning of a person. AIM: In this paper, the authors use a case history to illustrate traumatic experience - kidnapping of two police officers while performing their duty.

REPORT: As a traumatic experience, a kidnapping included an immediate life-threat or threat experienced by family members, humiliation and insult. A complete post-traumatic stress disorder developed within the three months in both cases. In one of these two cases, a psychosomatic disease (hyperthyroidism and ulcer) occurred within the six months. Besides this traumatic experience, a lack of social support, inadequate medical and psychological approach, as well as previous traumatic experiences had an impact on the development of mental, physical, social and occupational consequences.

CONCLUSION: Due to development of post-traumatic stress disorder and psychosomatic symptoms in the victims of kidnapping, the absenteeism followed and it has been defined as being due to disease. The authors indicate the presence of unequal valorization of mental and physical injury and point the necessity of changes in attitude towards mental injury at work. .
